The Next Chapter Begins: Applications Now Open for Experience Residencies

We’re excited to announce that applications are officially open for the 2026 cycle of Experience by Industry Standard, a premier nine-month paid apprenticeship program designed to accelerate careers in documentary post-production.

Experience Residencies offer immersive, hands-on learning opportunities within high-performing production environments. Each track is designed and matched with participating Industry Partners where Residents receive tailored mentorship, real time work experience, and access to a growing network of industry professionals.

This year, we’re expanding our network of participating production companies and refining our tracks, with a focus on documentary post production.  The Industry is looking for its next generation of talent and are eager to get involved – whether that is through providing work experience and mentorship, or sharing knowledge through panel discussions or workshops.  We’re excited to see the impact that this larger group of Industry Partners has on the next cohort.

Over the course of nine months, selected participants engage in real-world production work across one of six specialized tracks: Archival Research + Producing, Editorial, Color, Motion Design for Documentary, Sound Post, and Post Producing for Documentary. Each track is designed to deepen technical expertise while also developing the professional and interpersonal skills needed to succeed in the entertainment industry.

Residents work directly alongside accomplished filmmakers, producers, and post teams, gaining insight into the daily practices of top-tier documentary production. Through a framework of wrap-around mentorship and ongoing professional support, the program provides a holistic experience that supports both career readiness and personal growth.
