Union Editorial, with offices in Los Angeles, New York, Austin, and London (in alliance with Marshall Street Editors), is renowned for its commercial and brand editorial work. Union’s work in original content includes Netflix's "Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, "The Easy Kind", an indie narrative directed by Katy Chevigny, and a Netflix documentary series in collaboration with Vox Media and Nomadica Films to be released in 2025.

Library Films is helmed by filmmaker Chris Smith, whose projects include the Emmy-nominated documentaries “Jim & Andy,” “FYRE,” “Tiger King,” and Emmy-winning “100 Foot Wave.” Chris's latest feature, “Devo,” premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and Library Films latest release for Netflix "Mr. McMahon," chronicles the rise and fall of WWE Founder Vince McMahon.

Story Syndicate, founded in 2019 by Academy Award and Emmy Award winners Liz Garbus and Dan Cogan, specializes in premium nonfiction and scripted content, fostering innovative storytelling in a rapidly evolving media landscape. Their award-winning documentary work includes Academy Award®-winning films like “Summer of Soul” and “The Fog of War,” and nominated works such as Netflix’s “What Happened, Miss Simone?” and “Paradise Lost.” At this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, Radical premiered “Hollywood Black,” a documentary series directed by Justin Simien, featuring Issa Rae and Lena Waithe, celebrating the trailblazing figures of Black Hollywood. Opportunities in the Archival Producer track are for post producers responsible for managing and overseeing the research, acquisition, organization, and licensing of archival footage, photographs, documents, and other materials used in film, television, documentaries, and other productions.
The Ideal Candidate
You have a keen eye for detail, stellar organizational skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for research. Your ability to navigate digital databases and archival collections is exceptional. You find joy in a high-functioning spreadsheet. You're interested in deepening your understanding of intellectual property rights, copyright laws, and licensing agreements, which are the cornerstones of the legal and ethical aspects of archival usage.
Recognizing the importance of clear and expedient communication, you value collaborating closely with filmmakers and understand the importance of archival material to accurate depictions of events, settings, and characters.
What To Expect
As the Archival Producer Resident, you'll work closely with an experienced Archival Producer on active projects, contributing to research, organization, and sourcing of archival material. You'll have hands-on experience with rights clearances, tracking materials throughout production, and preparing spreadsheets for licensing agreements, permissions, and Fair Use considerations.
As you gain experience and exposure to the landscape of vendors, rightsholders, and the negotiation processes of Archival Producing, you’ll learn the value of this specialized skill set and its integral role in content production.
Opportunities in Color are available for artists with an interest in photography and color theory. Skills and knowledge of the software used to manipulate color, contrast, and saturation effectively such as DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere are necessary for a fulfilling experience.

A foundation in color theory allows you to understand how various hues, tones, and contrasts can evoke specific emotions and enrich narrative elements in visual mediums.

What To Expect
Color facilities are dynamic environments where you'll interact with a variety of projects throughout the day. As a Color Resident, you'll join a team handling both short and long-form content. You'll collaborate with color assistants, preparing files for colorists and aiding them with technical tasks. You'll also have opportunities to observe colorists in action, gaining insight into their creative processes as you observe working sessions in color bays.
Design and Visual Effects offer a wide range of roles within the creative fields. Opportunities are available for designers, animators, 3D artists, and compositors. Skills and knowledge of the software within these disciplines are necessary for a fulfilling experience.
The Ideal Candidate
You are on your journey within the field of design and visual effects, developing your portfolio of work. You appreciate how design enhances storytelling by weaving together disparate elements to reinforce the narrative. Additionally, you recognize the significance of visual effects in elevating intricate filmmaking processes.
You're eager to become part of a collaborative team that prioritizes mutual support and ongoing learning among its members.
What To Expect
As a Resident within the field of Design and Visual Effects, you will be positioned in active projects in either long or short form content, including motion graphic narrative sequences and main title sequences. Working alongside a diverse team of artists and producers, you’ll have an active role in the development and production of the projects to which you are assigned.
Opportunities in editorial are for assistant editors, associate editors and editors. Skills and knowledge of Avid and/or Premiere within these disciplines are necessary for a fulfilling experience.
The Ideal Candidate
You are on the continuum of learning the craft of editing, and have made a choice to pursue a career in post production. You appreciate the value of the editor’s role in storytelling and seek greater hands-on experience to deepen your skillset.
You are eager to learn the nuanced communication processes and protocols that take place in the editorial environment, which includes navigating feedback from a project’s stakeholders, such as directors, producers, commissioning executives, and clients.
What To Expect
As an editorial Resident, you will be positioned in an active project in either long or short form content. You will work within an editorial team, supporting and contributing to the work that the entire team is doing. Over the course of the residency, you may work across a variety of projects.
Opportunities in the Post Producing track are for Post Production Coordinators, Post Producers, and Post Supervisors.
The Ideal Candidate
As a Post Producer, your role is central to the successful completion of a project, leading the workflows for a project’s final stages and delivery.
You excel in organization, attention to detail, and demonstrate creative problem-solving abilities, especially in time-sensitive environments. Your communication style is clear, timely, and diplomatic, empowering effective collaboration. You prioritize quality and have the ability to inspire others to achieve a common goal.
A Post Producer remains attuned to a project's resources, creative requirements and the navigation of competing demands. Understanding the key elements of the delivery process and ensuring that final project files meet distributor specifications are central skills of a post producer.

As a Post Producing Resident, you will be positioned in active projects in either long or short form content. Post Producing residents can anticipate the opportunity to learn from seasoned producers about the skills within a variety of workflows that constitute the post production process.
